Ages 5 – 14. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day we do a special art project. This day of service encourages youth to understand why we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the benefits of volunteering your time, how to be kind to everyone, and how to use your creative talents to make a difference in the community! Youth ages 5-14 are invited to participate for FREE – and parents can drop off and pick up, or are welcome to participate as well.
Each year, we partner with a different non-profit to create artworks that benefit their mission. This year, we are partnering with Kindflash, a community initiative focused on cultivating a culture of kindness. Kindflash collects donations of hats, gloves, scarves, and socks (new or gently used) and dispenses them around the neighborhoods. Each year, hundreds of volunteers participate and thousands of items are distributed across 50+ Greater Cincinnati neighborhoods.
Our students will be making felt, heart-shaped key chains and cards that will be included in the bags people receive with the donated clothing. These are a way to let people know that someone cares about them by sending them “a heart-felt hug”. We will also be collecting donated items at this event – so bring your donation of hats, gloves, scarves and socks!
FREE to participate, Registration is required.
Every participant must fill out an Emergency Information and Photo Release. (Blanks available at the event.)
In previous years, we have partnered with the following organizations:
Dupree House, The Caring Place, The Pleasant Ridge Care Center, UpSpring (formally Faces without Places), Ohio Alleycat Rescue, and others.
