Teen Artists for Change (TAC) is a student-led program for diverse young artists of all kinds, ages 13-18, who want to make an impact in their community. TAC provides positive outlets for young people to identify, plan and implement creative projects that matter to them. Mentored by professional artists, teens develop skills and express their voices through creating artwork, culminating in public presentations such as art exhibits and public installations, and through a digital platform (online ‘zine).

TAC meets weekly throughout the year at Kennedy Heights Arts Center, with 12-week terms in the Fall and Winter/Spring semesters, as well as a summer session. Teens explore and utilize various forms of art-making including photography, film making, animation, creative writing, drawing and painting, and other forms of visual art. Projects are developed and led by the students themselves.

    ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Photographer and filmmaker Kailah Ware, a People’s Liberty grant recipient and regionally recognized artist for her art installation 1 Degree of Separation, is the project coordinator. Students will also be mentored by other professional artists and writers who will assist in teaching and cultivating students’ artistic skills.

We are now accepting applications for the Winter/Spring 2018 Term. Students are eligible to receive a scholarship to cover the full cost of the program (valued at $1,500). In exchange, members are asked to make a commitment to participating fully in the program.
