Jazz clarinetist and saxophonist Ken Peplowski will join the Phil DeGreg Trio for a special concert in Albert Harris Hall at the Kennedy Heights Arts Center’s Lindner Annex on Friday, March 24 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10; free to Youth Jazz Cincinnati students.
One of the greatest living jazz clarinetists and a smart, soulful tenor saxophonist, Ken has helped keep the tradition of small-group swing alive. Getting his start in a Polish polka band in Cleveland, Ken has performed around the world with one of the greatest big bands of all time – the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. In addition to the Dorsey band, Ken has performed with Benny Goodman, Mel Torme, Leon Redbone, Charlie Byrd, Peggy Lee, George Shearing, Madonna, Hank Jones, Dave Frishberg, Rosemary Clooney, Tom Harrell, James Moody, Cedar Walton, Houston Person, Steve Allen, Bill Charlap, Woody Allen, Marianne Faithfull, Isaac Delgado, Erich Kunzel, and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra. He is currently the artistic director of the Sarasota Jazz Festival, the Newport Beach Jazz Party, and the Oregon Coast Jazz Party in Newport, Oregon.
On March 24, Ken will teach a master class for students in Youth Jazz Cincinnati, an afterschool jazz academy for Cincinnati Public Schools in partnership with Kennedy Heights Arts Center, before his performance for the community.
