  • UPRISING Artist Talk + Baba Charles & Friends

    • Saturday, Sept. 26, 3-6 pm
    • Kennedy Heights Arts Center

Interested in learning more about the artwork featured in UPRISING, our outdoor exhibition of 10 Black artists exploring themes of racial justice? Hear from curator Jymi Bolden and artists Melvin Grier, Cherie Garces, Jimi Jones, Terence Hammonds, and Ricci Michaels about their inspiration and creative process behind these powerful works at 3:00 pm (outside).

Then stay to enjoy the music of Baba Charles Miller and Friends, playing on the gazebo from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, and light refreshments. Bring a chair.

A versatile multi-percussionist, Baba Charles seasons a rhythm with international flavors using instruments from Cuba, Brazil, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. He’s toured with Malian drum master Yaya Diallo and performed with the legendary Cuban Ensemble Afro-Cuba de Matanzas.

Masks are required, and please practice social distancing.
