“Opera, next to Gothic architecture, is one of the strangest inventions of Western man. It could not have been foreseen by any logical process.” Kenneth Clark, Art Historian

Photographs by Michael A. Kearns & Matt Steffen reveal the complex and dramatic productions of The Cincinnati Opera – highlighting the multitudes of components, teams, and details that all have to coordinate for success. Rhinoceroses Fly: Opera’s Improbable Beauty gives viewers an up-close and personal look at the color, magic, and passion inherent in each performance.

Photographed productions include La Traviata; The Coronation of Popea; Another Brick In The Wall; The Magic Flute, Fidelio, Tosca and Turandot.

All are invited to an Opening Reception on Saturday, June 15 from 6 to 8 pm. Artist Talk – TBD (free and open to the public).
