In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day we are doing a very special (remote) art project! This day of service encourages youth to understand the benefits of volunteering, how to give the gift of kindness, and how to use your creative talents to make a difference in the community.
Every year, Kennedy Heights Arts Center partners with a local non-profit to create artworks that are given to that organization to benefit their mission and the people they serve. This year, Kennedy Heights Arts Center and Episcopal Retirement Services (ERS) have teamed up to combat social isolation and deliver joy to our region’s seniors.
Due to COVID-19, this year’s Art for a Difference project will be conducted remotely. Youth ages 5-17 are invited to participate at no cost.
You are invited to create a handmade gift and personalized card for an older adult in need. Families will pick-up a free kit which includes all materials and instructions to make a handcrafted item and card. Create the items at home, then drop it off at the Art Center by 5pm to be delivered to a senior living in one of the ERS communities.
Participation for youth ages 5-17 is free, but pre-registration is required. Registration deadline is January 16 at 5:00pm.
