Drawing with Soft Pastels

Ages 13 – Adult.  

Immerse yourself in a medium that is challenging and rewarding. Soft pastels are unique in their brilliant, vibrant colors, and are too often overlooked by contemporary artists. Through a variety of exercises and demonstrations William Linthicum, a master in the pastel medium, will lead you through the essentials, helping you discover what pastels can do for your work. Learn color blending, color mixing, composition, textures, and more to unleash your creative side!  Instructor demonstrations followed by personalized instruction will acquaint participants with a variety of pastel techniques while producing finished pieces. The class, which will meet remotely via Zoom, is designed for students of all abilities and experience levels.

Students supply their own materials:

• Drawing board or smooth flat work surface
• Strathmore Charcoal Pad 500 Series (18”x24”)
• Rembrandt Soft Pastel Set – Assorted Colors, Half Sticks, Set of 30
• Derwent Pastel Pencil – Carbon Black

Total Cost: Approximately $70

CANCELLATION POLICY: Tuition is non-refundable, but can be transferred to another course if the student withdraws at least five days prior to the beginning of the course.
