This fall students will work with artist Sage Hummel to create ceramic pieces that are created with themes surround environment, conservation, and climate change. Over this session teens will consider how they can use art to curate discussion and inspire change. What do artist do to create art that is environmentally conscious, and how art can be multi-functional? Teens will learn the basics of the Ceramic process and the different ways to interact with both handmade and factory-made pottery. Together teens will explore how to create a conceptual body of work, including a set of functional dishware and a large-scale vessel that speak to an underlying theme. At the end of the 8 weeks students will display their work in a group exhibition!
Teen Artists for Change is a free program due to generous support from the Charles H. Dater Foundation.
