    • KHAC Lindner Annex, 6620 Montgomery Road

Join us for a compelling Artist Talk featuring Gee Horton at Kennedy Heights Art Center on Sunday, September 22nd, starting at 2 pm. Dive into an engaging conversation as Horton discusses his artistic inspirations and insights alongside friend and collaborator, Phyllis Jeffers-Coly, author, Heritage & Healing Practitioner, and founder of Diasporic Soul. This talk complements Horton’s highly anticipated second solo exhibition, Chapter 2: A Subtle Farewell to the Inner Child, a highlight of the 2024 FOTOFOCUS Biennial.

Explore Horton’s journey of self-discovery and healing, inspired by his recent pilgrimage to Senegal, West Africa. His work, which includes photography, drawings, cyanotypes, collage, and video, addresses themes of identity, memory, and belonging. This exhibition showcases the nuanced transition from youth to adulthood through personal narratives and the collective experiences of six middle-aged African American men, organized into four poignant sections: “The Little Boy Inside,” “Ova Granny’s House,” “The Rupture,” and “Family Business.”

Don’t miss this insightful discussion that enhances the understanding of the exhibition’s themes, providing a deeper appreciation for Horton’s creative process and artistic vision.

Sunday, September 22 starting at 2 pm at Kennedy Heights Arts Center Lindner Annex, 6620 Montgomery Road. Free and open to the public.

The Kennedy Gallery, where the exhibition is located, will be open for 1 hour immediately following the artist talk at the Annex for guests to view the show.
