Yoga for Grief & Loss

  • Yoga for Grief & Loss

    • Saturday, March 7 from 11:30-12:30pm
    • KHAC Lindner Annex, 6620 Montgomery Road

This gentle, accessible class invites participants to explore grief as a living, moving experience in a supportive environment. Using breath, mindful movement, and sound, we allow grief to flow through the body. Most movements are done seated or standing, and participants may bring a yoga mat if they wish, though no mat is required. All movement is optional, and rest is always welcome. No prior yoga experience is needed. This practice connects to the KHAC visual art exhibition Rooms of Grief, offering space to move, feel, and witness grief as it shifts, transforms, and creates room for renewal.

Led by Melissa McDonald, Certified Grief Yoga Instructor, RYT 200

Melissa McDonald is a restorative and grief yoga teacher from Kentucky who has lived abroad for over 20 years. She began practicing yoga at 19 and discovered how movement and breath can help navigate life’s ups and downs. She became a certified yoga instructor while caring for her mother during a terminal illness and earned her Grief Yoga certification in 2025. Melissa currently teaches restorative yoga at St. Elizabeth Cancer Center, at the Ronald McDonald House, and Yoga for Grief and Loss at The Well. Her classes blend breath, mindful movement, and presence to help people honor different experiences of grief and connect with their bodies.
