Music Along the River
Ages: 5-7. Instructor: Jennifer Melms
Week 1: June 6, 2022 – June 10, 2022
Time: 9:00am to 3:00pm daily
Tuition: $190 or sliding scale

Explore diverse histories and traditions of life in the Ohio River Valley through all kinds of music, instruments dance, art, and more!  This camp will represent a little bit of each’s camper’s ancestry.

Things we will learn:
•Native American history and the importance of the river and use of song and instruments.
•African-American history and the symbolism of freedom and use of spirituals.
South of the river in Kentucky with the use of bluegrass music and a precursor to country music today.
•Compare music from early settlers to music today.
•Folk songs with the importance of the Ohio River as a means of trade, transportation, and life.
•How the Ohio River influenced the surrounding areas (Mississippi River, Appalachian Mountains, etc.) and the music that also influenced these areas.



All participants are asked to complete and submit an 
Emergency Contact form and  Media Release.

Sliding scale tuition rates are available for those in financial need, and range from 10%-65% of the full tuition based on household income. CANCELLATION POLICY: Tuition is non-refundable, but can be transferred to another course if the student withdraws at least five days prior to the beginning of the course.
