“Opera, next to Gothic architecture, is one of the strangest inventions of Western man. It could not have been foreseen by any logical process.” – Kenneth Clark, Art Historian
Photographs by Michael A. Kearns & Matt Steffen reveal the complex and dramatic productions of The Cincinnati Opera – highlighting the multitudes of components, teams, and details that all have to coordinate for success. Rhinoceroses Fly: Opera’s Improbable Beauty gives viewers an up-close and personal look at the color, magic, and passion inherent in each performance.
Photographed productions include La Traviata; The Coronation of Popea; Another Brick In The Wall; The Magic Flute, Fidelio, Tosca and Turandot.
All are invited to an Opening Reception on Saturday, June 15 from 6 to 8 pm. Artist Talk – TBD (free and open to the public).
